"Saint John the Baptist" TÂRGU GÂNGULEŞTI Church, city BERBEŞTI (County VÂLCEA); 1797, painter: anonymous

The church having a triconic plan, is the foundation of Matthew, the custom officer of the river Olt, and his family. Masons were George and Peter from Igoiu. The church was painted between 1800 and 1801 and has the facades painted with characters — philosophers, Sibyls (pagan prophetesses) — and floral motifs.
